Oman Air Force Honours Officers for Global Achievements

Oman Air Force Honours Officers for Global Achievements

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

At Al Murtafa’a Camp, the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) held a special ceremony to recognise outstanding officers. The event was led by Air Vice Marshal Khamis Hammad Al Ghafri, who is the Commander of RAFO. He honoured officers who had earned top international achievements in both sports and scientific fields. This moment highlighted the pride of Oman in the talent and skills of its military officers.

Recognition of Global Success

The honoured officers achieved international recognition in areas beyond their regular military duties. Their hard work in sports and scientific training not only brought them personal success but also brought honour to Oman. By celebrating these achievements, RAFO showed its support for officers who excel in multiple fields, whether in physical strength or in technical knowledge.

Achievement in Taekwondo Championship

One of the officers honoured was First Flying Officer Sabra Moosa Al Salti. She represented Oman in the Taekwondo Championship organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM) in 2025. The championship was held in Germany, where she competed against top athletes from across the world. Her excellent performance earned her third place globally, and she was awarded the bronze medal. This success brought pride to both RAFO and Oman.

Bronze Medal for Oman

Winning the bronze medal at such a prestigious global championship is a major achievement. Taekwondo is a sport that requires discipline, training, and physical strength. By securing third place, Officer Sabra Moosa Al Salti showed her determination and competitive spirit. Her victory is an inspiration for other young Omanis, especially women, to pursue excellence in both sports and professional careers.

Achievement in Aviation Engineering

Another officer honoured was Flying Officer Haitham Abdullah Al Saidi. He participated in a highly specialized Aviation Engineering course at the Royal Air Force (RAF) Cosford in the United Kingdom. This course is known for its strict training and advanced technical standards. Officer Al Saidi not only completed the course but also achieved first place among all participants, proving his outstanding technical knowledge and skills.

Winning the Halahan Trophy

Because of his excellent performance, Flying Officer Haitham Abdullah Al Saidi was awarded the Halahan Trophy. This is a prestigious recognition given to the top performer of the course. Winning this award shows his high level of expertise and dedication to his field. His achievement proves that Omani officers are capable of competing at the highest international levels of aviation engineering.

Pride for the Royal Air Force of Oman

Both achievements—one in sports and the other in scientific training—reflect the diversity of talent within the Royal Air Force of Oman. These successes also highlight RAFO’s commitment to encouraging its officers to aim for excellence in many different fields. Whether it is in international competitions or technical education, RAFO officers are proving their abilities on the global stage.

Inspiration for Young Omanis

These honours are not only important for the officers themselves but also serve as role models for the younger generation. Many young Omanis can now look up to these officers as examples of hard work, determination, and success. Their stories encourage young people to pursue their dreams, whether in sports, education, or professional careers, while also serving their country.

Contribution to Oman’s Image

Every achievement by Omani officers abroad improves the international image of Oman. It shows the world that Oman is home to skilled, disciplined, and talented individuals who can compete successfully in global arenas. Such recognition strengthens the country’s reputation for excellence and progress.

Support from the Leadership

The presence of Air Vice Marshal Khamis Hammad Al Ghafri at the ceremony also shows the importance of leadership support. When high-ranking officials recognise and honour the achievements of officers, it motivates others to work harder. It also builds a culture of appreciation and encouragement within the military.

Strengthening RAFO’s Values

The Royal Air Force of Oman has always been known for discipline, courage, and professionalism. By encouraging its officers to develop skills in both physical and academic fields, RAFO is strengthening its core values. Officers like Sabra Moosa Al Salti and Haitham Abdullah Al Saidi represent these values through their international achievements.

Connection to National Development

These achievements also connect to Oman’s wider goals of national development. The country is investing in people and encouraging excellence in every field. Whether in sports, science, or technology, success stories like these show that Omani citizens are ready to take on challenges and achieve greatness.

The recognition ceremony at Al Murtafa’a Camp was more than a simple event. It was a celebration of Omani talent, dedication, and international success. First Flying Officer Sabra Moosa Al Salti’s bronze medal in taekwondo and Flying Officer Haitham Abdullah Al Saidi’s top award in aviation engineering have both brought pride to Oman. With strong leadership support and continuous encouragement, more officers will follow in their footsteps, carrying Oman’s name to greater global heights.
