Oman, Libya Strengthen Parliamentary and Bilateral Ties

The Chairman of Oman’s State Council received an official delegation from Libya’s High Council of State in Muscat as part of a visit aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation and enhancing bilateral relations between the two brotherly nations. The Libyan delegation was headed by Hassan Ali Habib, First Deputy Chairman of the High Council of State.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the strong historical ties and longstanding fraternal relations that connect Oman and Libya. Officials emphasized the importance of building on these foundations to advance cooperation in various sectors and support the shared interests of both countries and their peoples.

The discussions focused on the current state of Omani-Libyan relations and explored opportunities to further expand collaboration in political, economic and institutional fields. The two sides also exchanged views on several Arab and regional issues of common concern, reflecting their commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation.

The Libyan delegation was introduced to the role of Oman’s State Council within the national legislative framework. Officials provided an overview of the council’s responsibilities, powers and contributions to the country's legislative process, as well as its role in supporting Oman’s comprehensive development journey.

Participants reviewed the evolution of the State Council since its establishment and discussed its involvement in shaping policies that contribute to sustainable growth and national development. The exchange provided an opportunity for the Libyan delegation to gain insight into Oman’s governance and institutional experience.

As part of the official visit, the Libyan delegation is scheduled to undertake a series of field visits to key institutions, development projects and cultural landmarks across Oman. These visits are designed to showcase the Sultanate’s achievements in economic diversification, cultural preservation and sustainable development.

Officials noted that the visit reflects the growing momentum in Oman-Libya relations and opens new avenues for cooperation. Both sides expressed optimism that continued engagement and exchange of experiences would further strengthen bilateral ties and contribute to regional stability and development.
