Today, social media is more than a place to post pictures or talk to friends. It has become a big part of how people share their ideas, show who they are, and connect with others. In Oman, social media is now seen as an important space where people should show the country’s values and culture with care and respect.
Need to Protect Omani Values
There is a strong call for people in Oman to use social media in a way that protects their national values. This means being truthful, avoiding harmful content, respecting privacy, and sharing helpful and respectful messages. This is not just about being a good person—it is about protecting the country’s identity. Everyone has a role, including families, schools, influencers, and media.
Morals Come First for Oman
An Omani academic said that when people talk about Oman, they should think of its good morals first. She shared a quote from Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) praising the people of Oman for being kind and respectful. These values are part of Oman’s culture and are also seen in the way the country makes decisions. Oman always chooses peace, wisdom, and balance over arguments or conflict.
Teaching Culture Through Online Content
She explained that social media is now shaping how people think and behave. This is why Omani values must be shown clearly in online content. The youth should see messages that connect them to their history, their traditions, and their cultural identity—not content that takes them away from who they are.
Omani Behavior in the Digital World
She added that people don’t need to invent new values for social media. They just need to share Oman’s traditional values in modern ways. Omanis are known for being calm, respectful, and wise. These traits should appear in posts, comments, and even how people respond to others online.
Social Media Can Help or Harm
Another Omani expert in media and culture said social media can have two effects. If used well, it can spread good ideas and strengthen national pride. But if not used carefully, it can bring in foreign ideas that weaken Omani identity. This is why it’s important to guide how these platforms are used.
Traditional and Social Media Working Together
She said both traditional media (like TV, newspapers, and radio) and modern digital platforms have a role in sharing and protecting Omani values. According to Oman’s national plans, the media should help people feel proud of their identity. Media is now working hard to create content that teaches people, especially the youth, to love and respect their culture.
Passing Culture to New Generations
Traditional media has always helped pass on Omani culture from one generation to the next. Now, with social media being so powerful, this responsibility is even bigger. Media needs to find smart and creative ways to use social media to teach young people about who they are and where they come from.
Influencers Must Show True Omani Values
A young Omani social media activist said people who post online must act as role models. They are showing the world what Oman is like. That means always showing true Omani manners—being kind, honest, and respectful—even when talking to people outside Oman. She believes that a good influencer doesn’t pretend. They show real Omani behavior.
Sharing Useful Knowledge Online
She also explained that she uses social media to make hard topics easy for others to understand, especially for young people. Her goal is to help content creators do this in a professional way. She said Oman needs to build better digital spaces where people can share useful and respectful information.
Online Influence Is a Big Responsibility
The activist believes that being popular online is not just about getting likes or views. It’s a responsibility. One post can change someone’s life. So, people need to be very careful about what they say or share online. In today’s fast world, especially for young people, staying quiet about important things is not an option.
Everyone Has a Role in Protecting Identity
Protecting Oman’s identity online is not something extra—it’s a duty. It starts with families teaching children, continues with schools and influencers, and is supported by the media. Every word typed, every post shared, and every comment made online should reflect Omani values. This is how the country’s culture stays strong, even on the internet.
Oman’s Culture Must Guide the Online World
Keeping Omani culture alive in the digital world is very important. It helps the country stay strong, united, and proud. People in Oman should remember that their behavior online shows who they are to the rest of the world. That’s why every person—from a student to a public figure—must work to keep Oman’s good name shining, both offline and online.
