The Shura Council of Qatar held its regular weekly session on Monday at Tamim bin Hamad Hall under the chairmanship of Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.
During the session, the Council praised the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the G7 Summit, which he attended at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. Members of the Council said the participation reflected Qatar's strong international position and the growing recognition of the Amir's efforts in promoting dialogue, peace, security, and stability.
The Council also highlighted the Amir's participation in the working session titled "Overcoming Crises and Enhancing Stability in the Middle East." It noted that Qatar continues to play an important role in supporting diplomatic solutions, protecting international navigation and trade routes, and strengthening global cooperation to address common challenges.
Secretary-General of the Shura Council Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud then presented the agenda, after which the Council approved the minutes of its previous meeting.

A key outcome of the session was the approval of the draft Animal Welfare Law in its amended form. The decision came after reviewing the report submitted by the Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee and discussing the provisions of the legislation. The draft law has now been referred to the government for further action.
Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim also informed members that a draft law amending certain provisions of the Civil and Commercial Procedures Law, originally issued under Law No. 13 of 1990, has been referred to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for detailed study in line with the Council's internal regulations.
In addition, the Council reviewed several reports on international parliamentary participation. These included a report on the Shura Council delegation's participation in the 41st session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was held virtually in April.
The Council also reviewed reports on the participation of member Khalid bin Abbas Kamal Al Emadi in the 18th General Assembly of the Arab Scout Parliamentary Union hosted by Morocco in May, and Deputy Speaker Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti's participation in the IPU Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians held in Serbia in June.
The session reflected the Council's continued focus on legislative development, international cooperation, and strengthening Qatar's role in regional and global affairs.
