Ras Al Khaimah Boosts Exports, Tourism and Non-Oil Economy

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is strongly focusing on building a balanced and sustainable economy by expanding production, exports, logistics, tourism and manufacturing. This approach supports the UAE’s national goals to reduce dependence on oil and aligns with the UAE 2031 vision. Recent figures show that this strategy is delivering positive results across several key sectors.

According to data from the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, exports from the emirate grew significantly during the first nine months of 2025. Goods exported by chamber members reached a value of about AED 7.6 billion, showing strong demand from international markets. The third quarter recorded the highest activity, with more than 9,400 certificates of origin issued, indicating stable production and rising global interest in Ras Al Khaimah products.

Saudi Arabia remained the top destination for exports, followed by Oman and Kuwait. Iraq ranked fourth in export value, while Qatar, Bahrain and Egypt were also key markets. This wide market spread highlights the emirate’s growing trade partnerships and reduces reliance on a single country or region.

Officials said investments in infrastructure, skilled talent and flexible regulations have helped attract foreign investment and build a strong industrial base. Free zones, especially RAKEZ, have played an important role by supporting manufacturing, advanced technology and clean energy projects. Exports from free zones to the UAE local market also recorded solid growth.

At the same time, tourism has become a major driver of economic growth. Ras Al Khaimah welcomed over 1.28 million hotel guests in 2024, with steady year-on-year growth. The emirate is preparing for large-scale hotel expansion, with thousands of new rooms planned, mainly in the luxury segment.

Ras Al Khaimah aims to attract 3.5 million visitors each year by 2030. Major real estate and hospitality projects, especially on Al Marjan Island and Jebel Jais, are expected to support this goal and strengthen the emirate’s position as a regional business and tourism hub.
