RTA Revamps Driver Training with Enhanced ADAS Technology in Dubai

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has revamped its light vehicle driver training curriculum to integrate cutting-edge safety technology, particularly Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

This newly refined training program instructs learners on crucial safety features like collision warnings, blind spot detection, lane departure signals, parking assistance, adaptive cruise control, and anti-lock braking systems. These technologies are increasingly prevalent in today’s vehicles, contributing significantly to safer driving practices.

Sultan Al Akraf, Director of Drivers Licensing at the RTA, stated that these enhancements aim to bolster road safety, cultivate responsible driving behaviors, and minimize traffic incidents by aligning local training methods with global standards.

In collaboration with driving schools, this curriculum has been seamlessly integrated into both theoretical and practical lessons, as well as within the official learner's handbook.

Al Akraf noted that over 250,000 trainees have benefited from this updated program. Additionally, ongoing workshops are held for driving schools throughout Dubai to ensure that the teaching of modern vehicle technologies remains consistent and current.

The RTA emphasizes that this initiative is part of its long-term strategy to enhance road safety by adequately preparing new drivers to comprehend and utilize advanced vehicle safety technologies.
