Russian Su-34M Strikes Drone Storage Facility in Kharkov

Russian Su-34M Strikes Drone Storage Facility in Kharkov

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Russia's Defense Ministry has announced that its forces carried out a strike on a Ukrainian military facility located on the outskirts of Kharkov, claiming the site was being used to store drones and components for their assembly.

According to the ministry, the operation was conducted by a Su-34M fighter-bomber crew targeting a facility in the northwestern part of the city. Russian military officials said intelligence data indicated that the location served as a warehouse complex for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and related equipment were stored.

Direct Hit Reported on Military Warehouse

The Defense Ministry stated that the aircraft successfully struck the designated target. Video footage released by the ministry reportedly shows a direct hit on the building, followed by a powerful explosion and a large plume of smoke rising from the area. Russian officials said the detonation suggests that military equipment and drone-related materials were present inside the facility.

Part of Ongoing Strikes on Military Infrastructure

Russian authorities said the attack was part of a broader campaign targeting Ukrainian military infrastructure and defense-related facilities. Moscow maintains that such operations are carried out using precision-guided weapons and unmanned systems against military objectives.

The reported strike follows another incident in the Kharkov region a day earlier, when Russia claimed that Geran drones targeted an energy facility. Earlier in the week, Russian forces also reported striking a building that they said was involved in the production of warheads for missiles and drones.

Claims Yet to Be Independently Verified

The information regarding the strike has been provided by Russia’s Defense Ministry, and the claims have not been independently verified. Ukrainian authorities have not immediately commented on the reported attack.
