Saudi Envoy Boosts UK Defense Ties at Farnborough Airshow 2026

Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, visited the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 in the United Kingdom yesterday, where he held a series of meetings focused on strengthening cooperation in defense, aviation, aerospace, and advanced technologies.

Meetings With British Officials and Industry Leaders

During his visit, the ambassador met with senior British officials as well as executives from leading British and international companies operating in the defense, aviation, and aerospace sectors.

The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in advanced technologies, innovation, and industrial development. The meetings also explored opportunities for closer collaboration between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom in areas that support future growth and technological advancement.

Defense Cooperation Takes Center Stage

On the sidelines of the airshow, Prince Abdullah held talks on strengthening defense cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. The discussions aimed to support the shared interests of both countries while contributing to regional and international security.

The meetings highlighted the strong strategic partnership between the two nations and emphasized the important role that defense cooperation continues to play in their bilateral relationship.

Focus on Expanding Existing Partnerships

The two sides reviewed the current areas of cooperation and examined ways to broaden them. They also discussed new opportunities for collaboration that match the changing priorities of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom in the fields of defense and advanced industries.

Saudi Arabia Encourages Long-Term Investment

Prince Abdullah reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to encouraging British companies to expand their long-term industrial presence in the Kingdom. He said the country welcomes a greater role for British firms in localization initiatives aimed at strengthening domestic industrial capabilities.

He also noted that wider cooperation in advanced technologies and innovation would improve the competitiveness and resilience of the defense sectors in both Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom, while further strengthening the longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries.
