Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and relief efforts have received fresh international appreciation following a meeting between Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, adviser to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and Jamaican Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett in Riyadh.The meeting focused on humanitarian and relief issues of mutual interest, with both sides discussing areas of cooperation and matters connected to assistance for people affected by crises. The talks highlighted Saudi Arabia’s expanding humanitarian role through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, known as KSrelief.
During the meeting, Edmund Bartlett praised Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and relief programs delivered through KSrelief. He expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s efforts to assist countries and communities affected by crises in different parts of the world.The recognition comes as Saudi Arabia continues to use humanitarian assistance as part of its international engagement. Bartlett also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s medical humanitarian work, expressing appreciation for the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program. He specifically praised the Kingdom’s efforts to separate Jamaican conjoined twins who received treatment in Saudi Arabia last year.The program has become one of Saudi Arabia’s notable specialized medical initiatives, providing complex surgical care to children from different countries. Bartlett’s comments highlighted the humanitarian significance of Saudi medical assistance beyond traditional emergency relief.
Separately, KSrelief distributed 1,000 food baskets to vulnerable groups in Mongo city in Chad. The aid distribution benefited around 6,000 people as part of a humanitarian food assistance project in the African country.The distribution reflects the center’s focus on supporting communities facing difficult living conditions and food insecurity. Food basket programs are among the forms of direct assistance used to help vulnerable families and individuals affected by humanitarian challenges.
