The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) announced the launch of the official uniform for Team Saudi on Monday. The new uniform was created in partnership with the global sports brand ASICS. This new design will be worn by athletes representing Saudi Arabia in international competitions from 2025 to 2028.
The announcement took place at a special ceremony held at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex in Riyadh. The event was attended by senior officials from the SOPC, as well as representatives from ASICS and the Embassy of Japan.
Attendees and Key Guests
The launch event was attended by SOPC board members Adwa Al-Arifi and Ibrahim Al-Moaqil. The committee’s secretary-general and chief executive, Abdulaziz Baashen, was also present. From the diplomatic side, Counselor and Head of the Political Section at the Embassy of Japan in Saudi Arabia, Fumihiko Goto, attended.
Representatives from ASICS, including Seiji Hori, Managing Director of ASICS Middle East, were also part of the event. Their presence highlighted the collaboration between Saudi sports authorities and the international sportswear brand to support Team Saudi’s success in upcoming competitions.
Purpose of the New Uniform
The new official uniform is designed to represent Saudi Arabia in various sporting events for the next four years. It will be worn at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh in 2025, the Asian Games in Nagoya in 2026, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
The uniform aims to create a strong and unified image for Team Saudi on the international stage. It is also meant to provide athletes with comfortable, high-performance clothing suitable for a wide range of sports activities.
Design and Features
The design of the uniform combines modern style with practical sportswear features. ASICS worked closely with SOPC officials to create a uniform that reflects Saudi identity while meeting international standards for sports apparel.
Special attention was given to comfort, flexibility, and durability, ensuring that athletes can perform at their best. The uniform also incorporates the national colors and symbols to foster pride and unity among athletes and supporters alike.
Supporting Saudi Athletes
The unveiling of the Team Saudi uniform is part of SOPC’s larger strategy to support athletes at all levels. The committee aims to strengthen training programs, improve facilities, and provide athletes with modern equipment to compete internationally.
By collaborating with ASICS, SOPC ensures that athletes have access to high-quality sportswear that meets global performance standards. This partnership reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing sports and preparing its teams for international competitions.
Preparing for Major Events
Saudi athletes will debut the new uniform at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh in 2025. This event will be a major test of the new attire, allowing athletes to showcase it to an international audience.
Following this, the uniform will be used at the Asian Games in Nagoya in 2026. These games bring together top athletes from across Asia and provide an important platform for Saudi athletes to compete at a high level.
Finally, the uniform will be worn during the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. These global events are the pinnacle of international sports competition and will allow Team Saudi to present its identity to the world.
Collaboration With ASICS
ASICS has a long history of supporting athletes and national teams around the world. The company’s expertise in sportswear design ensures that the Team Saudi uniform meets the highest standards for professional sports.
Seiji Hori, Managing Director of ASICS Middle East, emphasized that the partnership reflects the shared goal of promoting sports excellence in Saudi Arabia. The collaboration combines technical innovation with cultural identity to create uniforms that inspire athletes and fans.
Promoting National Pride
The launch of the Team Saudi uniform is not just about clothing—it is a symbol of national pride. Athletes wearing the uniform carry the hopes and aspirations of their country in international competitions.
By representing Saudi Arabia on the global stage, athletes also highlight the country’s investment in sports development, international cooperation, and youth empowerment.
Future Plans for Team Saudi
SOPC plans to continue expanding opportunities for athletes, including providing access to world-class coaching, training facilities, and competitions. The launch of the official uniform is one step in a broader strategy to support Saudi athletes and ensure their success at regional and international levels.
The committee also hopes that the new uniform will encourage young people across Saudi Arabia to engage in sports and pursue athletic careers.
The unveiling of the Team Saudi uniform marks a significant milestone in Saudi sports. It symbolizes unity, performance, and national pride. With the support of ASICS and the SOPC, athletes are now better equipped to represent their country at major events, including the Islamic Solidarity Games, Asian Games, and Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This event demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sports development and its determination to create a strong presence in international competitions over the next few years.
