Saudi and Omani Leaders Hold Talks in Jeddah

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman met Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in Jeddah on September 1, 2026, during the Omani leader’s private fraternal visit to Saudi Arabia. The meeting focused on strengthening relations between the two Gulf countries and discussing important regional developments.

Leaders Discuss Bilateral Relations

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the longstanding relationship between Saudi Arabia and Oman. They discussed areas of bilateral cooperation and opportunities to further develop ties across different sectors, according to official Saudi and Omani statements.

The discussions underline the close relationship between Riyadh and Muscat and their interest in expanding cooperation in areas that serve the mutual interests of both countries. The talks also come as Gulf states continue to coordinate on regional political and security challenges.

Regional Security and Stability on Agenda

Regional developments were another major focus of the meeting. Saudi and Omani officials said the leaders exchanged views on current regional and international issues and discussed efforts aimed at maintaining security and stability.

Oman’s Foreign Ministry said the leaders also considered potential solutions aimed at achieving de-escalation and peace, with the goal of protecting the security of states and people while safeguarding economic interests.

Saudi-Oman Cooperation Gains Importance

Saudi Arabia and Oman are important members of the Gulf region, and both countries have significant interests in regional security, trade, energy and economic development. Their cooperation is particularly relevant as Middle Eastern governments seek diplomatic approaches to regional tensions.

The latest meeting provides another opportunity for Riyadh and Muscat to coordinate their positions and explore ways to strengthen bilateral ties. Official statements, however, did not announce a major new agreement from the meeting.
