Sharjah Hosts 19th Arabian Horse Festival This October

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Sharjah is preparing to welcome horse lovers from around the region for the 19th Sharjah International Arabian Horse Festival – Straight Egyptian Lineage, set to take place on 16th October. The event is organised by the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

The festival celebrates the rich heritage and noble history of the Arabian horse, a symbol of pride and tradition in Arab culture. Over the years, it has become one of the most respected equestrian events in the world, recognised for its commitment to preserving pure Arabian bloodlines.

Partnerships Strengthening the Event

The festival is organised in cooperation with the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone), which serves as the official sponsor. It is also supported by the Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS) and recognised by the European Conference of Arab Horse Organisations (ECAHO).

This partnership ensures international standards of judging, presentation, and competition, while reflecting Sharjah’s dedication to promoting excellence in equestrian sports.

Global Participation and Cultural Significance

This year, 55 horses from four countries — the UAE, Egypt, Iraq, and Qatar — will take part in the event. The festival will showcase some of the finest Straight Egyptian Arabian horses, known for their beauty, intelligence, and elegance.

The event not only highlights the UAE’s leadership in the equestrian world but also reinforces Sharjah’s position as a hub for cultural heritage. It celebrates the deep connection between the Arab people and horses, which have long been a part of their identity and way of life.

SAIF Zone’s Role and Vision

Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of SAIF Zone, said that the festival reflects Sharjah’s ongoing commitment to equestrian sports and cultural preservation. He emphasised that SAIF Zone is proud to support such events as part of its social responsibility and dedication to sharing the UAE’s heritage with the world.

He also praised the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club for its excellent organisation and continuous efforts to develop the festival into a world-class event.

A Celebration of Heritage

Guided by the vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the festival continues to promote Sharjah’s reputation as a centre of authentic Arabian horsemanship. It is not just a competition but a celebration of heritage, culture, and excellence, honouring the spirit of the Arabian horse — a timeless symbol of grace and pride in Arab history.
