Sharjah to Welcome 1,000 New Emirati Employees in January 2026

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Sharjah, UAE:

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved the addition of 1,000 Emirati men and women to the Government of Sharjah beginning in January 2026. This decision underscores the emirate’s unwavering commitment to fostering national employment opportunities.

This initiative comes on the heels of successfully employing 3,145 Emirati citizens throughout 2025, marking Sharjah’s ongoing dedication to increasing job availability for its citizens. According to the statement, interviews for the upcoming January positions will commence next Monday, enabling qualified candidates to initiate their application process without delay.

The new employment initiative is a key part of several projects personally overseen by the Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at reinforcing the employment landscape for citizens, empowering local talent, and securing sustainable futures for Emirati families. These projects include the ongoing introduction of new government roles tailored to workforce requirements.

Throughout 2025, the newly appointed staff members were allocated among various central and decentralized government sectors in Sharjah. A breakdown of the appointments reveals 1,994 men and 1,151 women, with total employment-related expenses exceeding AED 950 million.

His Highness has continually emphasized the necessity of creating durable career paths that enable young Emiratis to contribute meaningfully to the emirate’s progress while leading stable family lives and enjoying dignified living standards. Concurrently, these new appointments allow government entities to leverage qualified national expertise, enriching efficiency and productivity within the public realm.

This latest directive further solidifies Sharjah’s role as a prominent emirate in promoting Emirati employment and investing in human resources for sustainable development.
