Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, attended the third day of the Zayed Camel Race Grand Prize 2025. The event continues until 1st December and includes thousands of camels taking part. These camels belong to citizens from the UAE as well as other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, making it one of the largest heritage sports festivals in the region.

Sheikh Mansour watched several races during his visit, including the main Laqaya category races held at the Al Wathba Camel Race Track in Abu Dhabi. These races were run over a distance of 5 kilometres on the southern track as part of the evening session. The atmosphere at the venue was lively, with camel owners, officials, and spectators gathering to witness the exciting competitions.

The event was also attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President and Chairman of the Camel Racing Federation. Along with him, several high-ranking officials and many camel owners from different parts of the UAE and the Gulf region were present. Their participation highlighted the importance of camel racing as a traditional sport deeply connected to the culture of the region.

During the event, Sheikh Mansour honoured the sponsors and strategic partners of the Sheikh Zayed Festival. The ceremony took place in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan and other senior officials. Recognising these partners showed the UAE’s appreciation for those who support cultural and heritage events. After the honouring ceremony, Sheikh Mansour joined a luncheon hosted by Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan at his majlis in the Al Wathba area of Abu Dhabi. Leading camel owners from various Gulf countries also attended the gathering, making it an important social and cultural moment.

Throughout his visit, Sheikh Mansour engaged in warm conversations with the attendees. He spoke about the importance of camel racing and the strong role played by the Zayed Camel Race Grand Prize 2025 in preserving the UAE’s heritage. He noted that the event helps strengthen the position of camel racing as one of the region’s most recognised heritage festivals. The continued success of the competition reflects the UAE’s efforts to keep traditional sports alive while promoting unity among participants from different countries.

Many participants praised the UAE leadership for giving strong support to this historic sport. They highlighted the valuable prizes offered during the event, which motivate camel owners and help raise the overall level of the sport. These rewards also encourage younger generations to take interest in camel racing, ensuring that the tradition continues for years to come.

Camel owners expressed deep appreciation to Sheikh Mansour for his constant support and regular attendance at major races. They said that his presence inspires them and encourages further development in camel training and racing. They also noted that his involvement plays a key role in preserving the legacy of camel racing, which remains an important part of the region’s cultural identity.

The Zayed Camel Race Grand Prize 2025 continues to attract large crowds and strong participation from across the Gulf. Each year, the event helps celebrate the UAE’s heritage while building stronger connections between camel owners, trainers, and racing enthusiasts. With the encouragement of leaders like Sheikh Mansour, the sport continues to grow in popularity and remains a symbol of pride for the entire region.
