Sixth Iran-US Nuclear Talk Set in Muscat This Sunday

Iran's Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that the sixth round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States will be held this Sunday in Muscat, the capital of Oman.

Since April, Iran and the U.S. have had five rounds of talks through Oman—three in Muscat and two in Rome. These talks aim to address Iran's nuclear program and the removal of U.S. sanctions. The fifth round took place on May 23 in Rome.

Towards the end of May, the U.S. sent a proposal to Iran through Oman, suggesting a possible nuclear agreement.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that this proposal from the U.S. was not based on what had been discussed in earlier meetings. He mentioned that Iran would now respond with its own proposal, also delivered through Oman.

Baghaei made it clear that Iran would not accept any proposal that ignores its national rights—especially its right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and to have U.S. sanctions lifted effectively.

He described Iran’s upcoming proposal as “reasonable, logical, and fair” and urged the U.S. to take it seriously. “Accepting this proposal is in the best interest of the United States,” he said.
