Vietnam and Japan Enhance Regional Collaborative Efforts

Post by : Shakul

Vietnam's Prime Minister Le Minh Hung met with Nagasaki Kotaro, the Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture, in an official gathering at the Government headquarters in Hanoi. Their dialogue focused on fortifying collaboration in sectors such as trade, agriculture, green energy, investment, and workforce development. The visit underscored the significance of regional partnerships within the framework of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Both leaders expressed contentment with the consistent advancement of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Japan. They acknowledged the growth of both political trust and economic collaboration spanning multiple areas. Japan is viewed as a crucial economic ally for Vietnam, ranking prominently in investment, trade, tourism, labor initiatives, and official development assistance. The fruitful recent visit of Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae to Vietnam was also highlighted, paving the way for further cooperative endeavors.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung reaffirmed Vietnam's view of Japan as a steadfast and long-term strategic partner. He noted the vital role of local government collaboration and personal exchanges in enhancing ties. Additionally, he appreciated Yamanashi Prefecture’s partnerships with provinces like Quang Tri, Lao Cai, and Tay Ninh, while advocating for broader future collaboration.

Agricultural cooperation emerged as a prominent focus of their discussions. The Prime Minister commended Japan for its support in Vietnam's ambitious project to cultivate one million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice fields. He advocated for enhanced agricultural collaboration through technology transfer, scientific exchange, and vocational training. Vietnamese officials expressed hope for Japanese authorities to finalize procedures enabling mutual market access for Japanese grapes and Vietnamese pomelos, thus fostering agricultural trade.

The discussions also concentrated on green energy and hydrogen initiatives. Officials from Yamanashi are collaborating with Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and various Vietnamese enterprises to advance renewable energy projects. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung encouraged Japanese investments in Vietnam, particularly in clean energy, advanced technology, and agriculture.

Human resource enhancement and labor collaboration were significant focal points as well. The Prime Minister urged both nations to bolster vocational training for skilled laborers in fields like science, technology, agriculture, and industrial services. He expressed gratitude towards Yamanashi’s administration for aiding the Vietnamese community in the prefecture, advocating for continued support regarding labor laws, insurance, and social welfare. Currently, approximately 5,000 Vietnamese reside in Yamanashi, contributing considerably to cultural and economic exchanges.

Governor Nagasaki Kotaro conveyed that Yamanashi Prefecture treasures its evolving relationship with Vietnam and is keen to expand collaborations. He spotlighted Yamanashi’s robust fruit sector, specifically grape and peach cultivation, expressing optimism for Japanese grapes entering the Vietnamese market soon. The Governor reaffirmed Yamanashi’s dedication to renewable energy collaboration and shared that measures will be set in place to ensure Vietnamese residents feel secure and welcomed. Both parties concluded that intensified local collaboration would be pivotal in further developing Vietnam-Japan relations in the upcoming years.
