Bellucci Advances as Hanfmann Exits Stuttgart Open

Post by : Shakul

Italy’s Mattia Bellucci booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open after overcoming Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann in a hard-fought three-set encounter on Wednesday. The ATP 250 grass-court tournament continued to deliver exciting action as players battled for a place in the last eight.

The match began with Bellucci showing impressive composure under pressure. The Italian secured the opening set 7-5 after taking advantage of key opportunities during crucial moments. His aggressive baseline play and strong serving helped him gain an early advantage against the home favorite.

Hanfmann refused to surrender and mounted a determined comeback in the second set. The German pushed the contest into a tie-break and displayed excellent resilience to claim the set 7-6, winning the breaker 7-4 and bringing the match level.

However, Bellucci quickly regained control in the deciding set. The Italian raised the intensity of his game and dominated the third set with powerful shot-making and consistent service games. He eventually sealed a convincing 6-2 victory to advance to the next stage of the tournament.

With the win, Bellucci moves into the quarter-finals where he will face the winner of the highly anticipated match between American star Taylor Fritz and Spain’s Martin Landaluce. The upcoming clash is expected to be one of the tournament’s most closely watched encounters.

In another second-round match, French player Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard delivered a strong performance to defeat Belgium’s Gauthier Onclin in straight sets. Perricard secured a 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 victory in just one hour and 19 minutes, showcasing his powerful serve and attacking style.

The Frenchman will now await the winner of the contest between Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff and Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik. As the Stuttgart Open progresses, several top players remain in contention for the prestigious ATP 250 title on grass ahead of the summer tennis season.
