The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has shared the official figures for Hajj 2025. This year, 1,673,230 pilgrims performed Hajj. Out of these, 1,506,576 were international pilgrims who came from other countries, while 166,654 were domestic pilgrims—which includes both Saudi citizens and residents.
To help serve these pilgrims, 420,070 people from both government and private sectors were involved, including security personnel. Among them, 92% were men and 8% were women.
The report also highlighted the efforts of 34,540 volunteers, both male and female, who gave their time to support the pilgrims. Together, they contributed an impressive 2,134,398 volunteer hours at the holy sites during the Hajj period.
One of the key services mentioned was the “Makkah Route Initiative,” which made travel easier for pilgrims from eight different countries. This program, which started in 2017, speeds up immigration checks before the pilgrims even leave their home countries. In 2025, 314,337 pilgrims—about 20.9% of all international pilgrims—used this service.
In terms of gender, the pilgrims included 877,841 men and 795,389 women.
GASTAT confirmed that the numbers are based on official data from the Ministry of Interior. The information is highly accurate and follows a consistent method that has been used for the past five years.
