Record Participation in Dubai's Arabic Language Award

Dubai: The latest edition of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award has achieved a remarkable milestone, strengthening Dubai's status as a key player in cultural and knowledge initiatives.

Conducted by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library under the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, this year’s award recorded unprecedented participation, showcasing the increasing worldwide significance of the Arabic language.

A total of 2,683 submissions were received, featuring 677 completed projects, which signals a noteworthy increase in innovation throughout the language sectors. With 3,664 participants—individuals, teams, and institutions—the award's global reach continues to expand.

Entries came from 52 countries, including six participating for the first time—demonstrating a rise in global engagement and Arabic's role in cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange.

Notable Trends and Categories

Education stood out as the most significant category, highlighting its crucial role in safeguarding and promoting the Arabic language. Other major categories included:

  • Culture, thought, and knowledge society

  • Tech and artificial intelligence applications

  • Media and communication

  • Language policy and Arabisation

The heightened focus on technology and AI showcases the evolving role of Arabic in today's digital landscape.

Official Remarks

H.E. Bilal Al Budoor, Secretary-General of the Award, commented that the impressive participation underscores both the award's institutional growth and an increasing global interest in Arabic as a vibrant and evolving language.

He emphasized Dubai and the UAE's dedication to bolstering international efforts to promote Arabic across significant development sectors like education, innovation, and technology.

Awards and Vision

The award boasts a total prize pool of around AED 2.8 million, aimed at recognizing excellence and fueling innovation in advancing the Arabic language.

Initiated under the guidance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this initiative is part of a larger vision to:

  • Enhance the global prominence of Arabic

  • Encourage its utilization across contemporary sectors

  • Advance teaching methods in harmony with digital transformation

Global Significance

Since its launch, the award has grown into a leading global platform that supports notable contributions to the Arabic language. It continues to foster linguistic innovation and bolster Arabic’s presence in science, technology, and culture.

This initiative plays a vital role in establishing a sustainable ecosystem that not only protects cultural heritage but also aligns with global development objectives.
