Andrew Tate Comments on Wiz Khalifa Jail Sentence in Romania

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Controversial social media personality Andrew Tate spoke out after Romanian authorities sentenced rapper Wiz Khalifa to nine months in jail for drug possession. Taking to X, Tate made a sarcastic remark, saying, "Romanians now trying to throw Wiz Khalifa in jail. Come see me @wizkhalifa I know how to get better blankets and pillows."

Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, was arrested in July 2024 after smoking a joint on stage during the Beach Please! Festival in Costinești, Romania. He was performing Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's 'The Next Episode' when the incident happened. Romanian law is strict on illegal drugs, and Khalifa was convicted for "unlawful possession of dangerous drugs for personal use." The rapper apologised on social media, saying he did not intend to disrespect Romania and promised to avoid smoking on stage next time.

Earlier, Khalifa was fined around $830 for the incident in April 2025, but prosecutors appealed the decision. The Constanța Court of Appeal overturned the fine and handed him a nine-month jail sentence, arguing his actions encouraged drug use among young fans. His team is appealing the ruling, and it is unclear if he will serve time, as Khalifa is a US citizen currently outside Romania.

Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer and online personality, has faced serious allegations including rape, human trafficking, and forming a criminal group to exploit women. Along with his brother Tristan Tate and two Romanian women, he is accused of recruiting women under false pretenses and forcing them to create explicit content. The brothers deny all charges and claim the case is aimed at seizing their wealth.

Tate also faces 21 criminal charges in the UK, including rape and assault. Known for his misogynistic views and promotion of ultra-masculine lifestyles, he has been banned from several social media platforms. His controversial online presence has raised concerns about the influence of toxic masculinity on young audiences.
