Team Abu Dhabi’s Modern Sailing Team, representing the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club Academy, will compete at the 15th Mussanah Race Week in Oman. The team will face more than 100 sailors from seven countries, with official racing scheduled to begin on Sunday, October 18.
Organised by Oman Sail, the event will take place at Barceló Mussanah Resort. Sailors from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Tunisia and India will participate in the competition.
Team Abu Dhabi has entered a 15-member squad for the event. The sailors will compete in the Optimist and ILCA classes as the team looks to maintain its competitive presence and build on its performances in international sailing competitions.
The team’s Optimist squad includes Hazza Ibrahim Sultan, Nouh Nawab Nouh Ahmed, Ali Ibrahim Sultan, Ali Saeed Al Remeithi, Theyab Fahad Al Mheiri and Rashed Mohammed Al Neyadi.
These six sailors will represent Team Abu Dhabi in the Optimist class at the international event.
Team Abu Dhabi will have nine sailors competing in the ILCA categories. The squad consists of Toprak Caglayan, Hamza Ismail Al Ali, Abdelrahman Abdalla Albahri, Mohamed Abdulkareem Alhammadi, Rashed Sultan Aldhaheri, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan, Jasim Mohamed Jasim, Simeon Hristov and Abdulla Mohammed Alneyadi.
The sailors will compete across the ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 categories, giving the team representation in three ILCA divisions.
Official racing at the 15th Mussanah Race Week will run from October 18 to 21. The competition schedule allows for up to four races each day.
The final standings will be calculated based on the sailors’ cumulative results across the competition. A prize-giving ceremony will take place after the racing concludes.
First held in 2011, Mussanah Race Week is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2026. This year’s event brings together sailors from seven countries for several days of competition at Barceló Mussanah Resort in Oman.
Team Abu Dhabi’s participation includes entries in both the Optimist and ILCA classes, with its 15 sailors set to compete during the four-day event.
