Thailand is progressing with its Digital Government Development Plan for 2027-2032, aiming to enhance the accessibility, security, and convenience of public services for its citizens, businesses, and expatriates.
The inaugural meeting of the Digital Government Development Committee was convened at Government House in Bangkok, presided over by Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, Paradorn Prisnanantakul, along with Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Chaiyanok Chidchob, and various governmental representatives.
According to officials, this framework is set to modernize public services in the digital landscape. The government envisions developing a digital administration system that is more accessible and dependable for all individuals in the nation.
This initiative is built upon five pivotal strategies, including enhancing digital governmental services, integrating government databases, advancing digital infrastructure, encouraging artificial intelligence usage, and boosting the digital skills of governmental personnel.
A notable aspect of the plan involves launching a "Single Portal" platform that grants citizens access to various government services through a single digital interface. This system will utilize a Digital ID platform to manage services like e-Signature, Document Wallet, and a National Payment Platform.
Officials expect that this system will minimize paper usage, streamline online transactions, and render government services faster and more effective. Furthermore, the government aspires to leverage AI technology in public service delivery, governance, and policy evaluation to enhance transparency and informed decision-making.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on improving data sharing between governmental entities via the Government Data Exchange Center, utilizing the Federated Data Exchange concept. Officials noted this would alleviate the need for citizens to repeatedly provide document copies and foster better inter-departmental coordination.
Thailand is also striving to harmonize its digital transformation with the United Nations e-Government Development Index standards. Responsible agencies have been tasked with crafting detailed rollout strategies ahead of the subsequent committee meeting.
