The Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, has landed in Hanoi, Vietnam, for an official visit aimed at reinforcing bilateral ties and advancing economic collaborations. Joined by his wife, Mrs. Thanon Charnvirakul, and a high-profile delegation, the Prime Minister arrived at Noi Bai International Airport on June 8, commencing a full agenda of official activities.
Upon his arrival, the delegation received a warm welcome from Vietnam’s Minister of Ethnicity and Religious Affairs, Nguyen Dinh Khang, representing the host government. This visit signifies the robust and evolving partnership between Thailand and Vietnam, vital players in Southeast Asia’s economic and political landscape.
The initial focus for the Prime Minister was on economic cooperation, beginning with meetings involving Thai business leaders in Vietnam. He observed the signing of cooperation accords between private sector representatives from both nations. These discussions are aimed at unlocking new investment avenues and strengthening the commercial relationship between Thai and Vietnamese companies.
Later, Prime Minister Anutin engaged with prominent Vietnamese business leaders to share insights on trade, investment, and connectivity in economics. Both parties deliberated on strategies to bolster bilateral trade, promote cross-border investment, and create avenues for sustainable economic development.
The official itinerary further included a wreath-laying ceremony at the Bac Son Martyrs’ Monument and a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. After these commemorative events, the Prime Minister participated in an official welcome at the Government Palace, followed by plenary talks with senior Vietnamese officials. Additional engagements included a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly and a state dinner hosted by the Vietnamese Prime Minister.
On June 9, the Prime Minister is set to attend the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum, where regional leaders and policymakers will tackle emerging opportunities and challenges in Southeast Asia. The forum's goal is to enhance ASEAN collaboration and devise strategies for future growth and stability in the region.
The visit will culminate with the Thailand–Vietnam Investment and Business Forum, organized by Thailand’s Board of Investment. Through talks with key business figures and policymakers, the forum intends to deepen the trade and investment relationship between the two nations, with officials anticipating that the visit will yield tangible outcomes that further enhance economic cooperation, regional integration, and long-lasting diplomatic ties between Thailand and Vietnam.
