The romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, featuring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, is slated for a Christmas Day theatre release. However, initial box office figures indicate it might have a tough opening.
Advance bookings commenced three days prior to the release, yet fan interest appears lackluster. By noon on December 24, industry tracker Sacnilk reported only approximately 51,000 tickets sold for the opening day, with advance ticket sales hovering around ₹1.97 crore, just shy of the ₹2 crore goal.
These figures are deemed low, especially for a festive premiere. While romantic comedies typically start slower than more action-packed or high-budget films, industry insiders expected a surge due to the holiday season. Unfortunately, the anticipated festive bump seems minimal this time.
A significant factor contributing to the film's hurdles is the intense competition. The hit film Dhurandhar remains a strong presence in theaters nationwide, and the recently released Avatar: Fire and Ash has further decreased available showtimes. Consequently, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is struggling to find sufficient screening slots, particularly in single-screen venues.
Producers have reportedly requested at least two daily showings in single-screen cinemas and additional screenings in multiplexes, depending on availability. However, many venues are giving preference to Dhurandhar, slowing down the advance bookings for this rom-com. This diminished visibility may severely impact the film's opening weekend revenue.
Directed by Sameer Sanjay Vidwans, the film employs the popular enemies-to-lovers narrative. Alongside Aaryan and Panday, the ensemble cast features seasoned actors Neena Gupta, Jackie Shroff, and Aruna Irani, which adds depth to the project.
Despite the sluggish beginning, the movie's success may hinge on audience reactions post-release. Romantic comedies can often gain traction over time if viewers resonate with the narrative and performances. However, with constrained screen access and tough competitors, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is set for a challenging box office journey in its opening days.
