Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have reconfirmed their pledge to enhance cultural and humanitarian collaboration following high-level discussions in Ashgabat. These talks occurred during the ongoing Azerbaijan Culture Days in Turkmenistan, celebrating the mutual heritage and enduring friendship between these neighboring countries.
On June 5, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Adil Kerimli to assess the current status of their cultural relations and to identify new avenues for collaboration. Both officials underscored the pivotal role of culture in fostering closer ties and fortifying the traditionally robust relations between the two nations.
During their meeting, they placed special emphasis on enhancing partnerships among museums, libraries, cultural institutions, artistic entities, and educational organizations. They concurred that improved collaboration across these sectors would aid in preserving and promoting the rich historical and cultural legacies of both countries while paving the way for new opportunities for upcoming generations.
The ministers also acknowledged the significance of Azerbaijan Culture Days taking place in Turkmenistan, which includes film screenings, literary discussions, exhibitions, and cultural showcases highlighting Azerbaijan’s artistic accomplishments and traditions. A gala concert featuring esteemed Azerbaijani artists is expected to act as the highlight of this celebration.
Both nations emphasized the need to organize additional joint cultural projects, exhibitions, and exchange programs. They view these initiatives as effective means to foster greater mutual understanding and cultivate deeper connections across different societal sectors.
A crucial aspect of the discussions was the enhancement of collaboration among creative communities and cultural professionals. Officials noted that fostering increased interactions among artists, writers, academics, and cultural specialists could substantially contribute to the advancement of broader bilateral relations.
The meeting concluded with both delegations expressing optimism regarding the future of Turkmen-Azerbaijani collaboration. They reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering cultural diplomacy, supporting innovative collaborative endeavors, and maintaining a continued dialogue to enhance friendship and partnership for the mutual benefit of both nations.
