Enhancing Healthcare Ties: Turkmenistan and China Engage in Collaborative Talks

Post by : Shakul

On April 15, 2026, a distinguished Chinese medical delegation embarked on a visit to Turkmenistan, marking a pivotal moment in enhancing healthcare collaboration in areas like child care and traditional medicine.

The delegation, headed by Tan Zhishu of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, toured the headquarters of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Charitable Foundation for Supporting Children in Need of Care in Arkadag City, a progressive hub centered around healthcare and social welfare.

During their discussions, Oguljakhan Atabaeva, Vice-President for Medical Affairs of the Foundation, explored avenues for deepening bilateral healthcare cooperation, particularly focusing on child health and rehabilitation initiatives.

A recently signed Memorandum of Understanding was underscored, aimed at launching a Turkmen-Chinese Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine, promising to broaden collaboration among medical institutions from both nations.

The conversation also aimed to extend partnerships in complex medical treatments and the merging of traditional and modern medical practices for improved healthcare results.

Atabaeva emphasized Turkmenistan's commitment to safeguarding children's health and uplifting their lives through superior medical care and integrated social support. She noted the foundation's significant role in providing essential medical services and undertaking complex surgeries since its inception in 2021.

The Chinese representatives expressed eagerness for deeper cooperation and recognized Turkmenistan as a trustworthy ally in healthcare advancement. They acknowledged the global outreach of traditional medicine centers and welcomed Turkmenistan's participation in this vital network.

The delegation also visited the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Children's Health and Rehabilitation Center to observe the state-of-the-art treatment facilities and holistic healthcare services tailored for children's recovery.

Their itinerary included a visit to the State Equestrian Circus, showcasing hippotherapy as a natural rehabilitative method, reflecting innovative strategies aimed at enhancing children's physical and emotional health.

Both parties expressed optimism that this visit would fortify humanitarian bonds and lead to a lasting partnership in healthcare, education, and scientific exploration.
