UAE Aid Agency Holds AI Workshop to Strengthen Humanitarian Work

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The UAE Aid Agency organised a specialised workshop focused on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in humanitarian action. The event brought together 40 donor entities representing humanitarian organisations and charitable associations from across the UAE.

The workshop aimed to strengthen institutional capacity, develop professional skills, and encourage the effective use of AI tools to improve humanitarian, development, and charitable activities.

AI to Improve Humanitarian Response and Preparedness

Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, highlighted the importance of adopting artificial intelligence across humanitarian operations. He said AI can help humanitarian organisations and donor entities improve their preparedness while increasing the efficiency of emergency response and humanitarian assistance.

He explained that making better use of intelligent algorithms creates new opportunities for humanitarian organisations, development institutions, and charitable associations to plan annual programmes more effectively and implement community projects in the world's most vulnerable regions.

According to Dr. Al Ameri, these efforts support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals while improving the overall impact of humanitarian work.

Focus on Innovation and Responsible AI Use

The workshop included several sessions designed to strengthen national and institutional capabilities in humanitarian action. Discussions also focused on encouraging innovation and promoting the responsible use of modern technologies in humanitarian and charitable work.

Participants explored how artificial intelligence can support development projects, humanitarian initiatives, and charitable programmes while improving planning and operational effectiveness.

Supporting the UAE's Humanitarian Vision

The workshop reflects the UAE's approach to using artificial intelligence to serve humanity and enhance the impact of humanitarian, development, and charitable initiatives. By building AI knowledge among donor organisations, the UAE Aid Agency aims to help organisations deliver more efficient and effective support to communities in need.
