Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan attended the Third International Conference on Sudan in Berlin, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to mitigating the ongoing conflict and enhancing humanitarian initiatives.
This high-stakes conference was collaboratively organized by Germany, the European Union, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the African Union. It aimed to build on the successful outcomes from prior meetings held in Paris (2024) and London (2025).
Addressing Humanitarian Needs and Ceasefire Goals
Commemorating the third anniversary of the conflict in Sudan, the summit emphasized escalating humanitarian aid, advocating for a ceasefire, and promoting a civilian-driven political transition.
In his speech, Sheikh Shakhboot highlighted the urgent necessity to cease hostilities, pointing out the dire repercussions on civilians. He denounced the actions of all factions involved and stressed the vital need to safeguard innocent lives.
UAE's Stance Since 2023
Sheikh Shakhboot reiterated the UAE's steadfast priorities since the conflict erupted in April 2023:
A prompt ceasefire and humanitarian truce
Unhindered humanitarian access throughout Sudan
A peaceful political resolution led by civilians
Immediate relief efforts to tackle the humanitarian crisis
He highlighted the UAE’s ongoing advocacy for an unconditional truce through the Quad, alongside efforts to facilitate a durable ceasefire and a transition towards an independent civilian government devoid of militant factions and extremist pressures.
Global Collaboration Needed
Sheikh Shakhboot stressed the urgency for enhanced coordination both regionally and internationally to put an end to the strife. He reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to backing all initiatives aimed at reinstating peace and stability in Sudan.
During the conference, he engaged with various international officials to discuss regional dynamics and improve cooperative efforts on global peace and security.
