The Abu Dhabi Awards has launched the second edition of its Young Ambassadors programme at the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood. Members of the UAE Children’s Parliament, the Children’s Advisory Council, representatives of the Awards Organising Committee, and media attended the launch event.
Purpose of the Programme
The programme aims to empower young ambassadors to represent the Abu Dhabi Awards, spread awareness of its values, and encourage the public to nominate individuals who positively impact UAE society.
Secretary-General Speaks
Rym bint Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, said the programme is a milestone in instilling values of giving and social responsibility in children. She highlighted how it encourages active participation in nation-building, develops confidence, creativity, and initiative, and motivates children to contribute to the UAE’s future.
Orientation and Training
The launch event included an orientation session for the new ambassadors, followed by interactive workshops. These workshops provide skills to represent the Awards, communicate its values to peers, and act as role models in community participation and volunteerism.
Awards Committee Emphasises Empowerment
Amal Al Ameri, member of the Abu Dhabi Awards Organising Committee, said the second edition reflects the Awards’ dedication to empowering future generations. She noted that young ambassadors will raise awareness of the Awards across all Emirates, ensuring its reach to a wide audience.
Developing Social Responsibility
Al Ameri added that engaging children strengthens their sense of social responsibility and leadership. She described the programme as a unique platform for children to develop skills and actively participate in promoting goodness and volunteerism in society.
Children Speak on Their Role
Aisha bint Humaid Alkhayyal, First Deputy to the President of the UAE Children’s Parliament and an Abu Dhabi Awards Ambassador, stated that being part of the Young Ambassadors programme is an opportunity to serve as role models. She said they will promote kindness and generosity and encourage everyone to nominate inspiring individuals.
Legacy of the Abu Dhabi Awards
The programme is held under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Over the past 20 years, the Abu Dhabi Awards have honoured 100 individuals from 18 nationalities for contributions in healthcare, volunteerism, scientific innovation, heritage, environmental protection, and empowerment of People of Determination. The awards reflect the UAE’s values of giving, social cohesion, and community service.
