UAE Denounces Iranian Drone and Missile Assaults on Bahrain and Kuwait

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong denunciation of the drone and missile attacks from Iran that targeted both Bahrain and Kuwait, categorizing these actions as a grave infringement of the sovereignty of these nations and a significant threat to regional security.

In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the attacks as intolerable and reiterated the importance of upholding the sovereignty, security, and stability of all nations. The ministry expressed the UAE's unwavering solidarity with Bahrain and Kuwait, emphasizing support for any actions that safeguard their safety and national interests.

This condemnation follows reports from Bahrain and Kuwait of thwarting numerous missiles and drones that originated from Iran on Saturday. Kuwaiti officials confirmed that their defense systems successfully intercepted seven missiles, while Bahrain's military reported the interception of three missiles and several drones before they could achieve their objectives.

These events occur amidst heightened regional tensions spurred by recent US airstrikes on Iranian surveillance sites located in Goruk and Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz. US officials indicated that these operations were conducted after identifying Iranian drones that posed threats to maritime traffic.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps later claimed responsibility for targeting US military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for the American strikes. The group also asserted involvement in actions against several tankers navigating through the Strait of Hormuz.

The UAE has called for restraint and stability during this critical period, stressing that safeguarding regional security is paramount while advocating for initiatives that foster peace and avert further escalation in the Gulf area.

The UAE's condemnation of these Iranian actions underscores escalating concerns regarding regional tensions and highlights the necessity of protecting international security, trade routes, and the sovereignty of Gulf nations.
