The second session of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in Tehran, hosted by Iran.

The meeting was co-chaired by Lana Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State, and Majid Takht Ravanchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs. The session was attended by Khalid Belhoul, UAE Ambassador to Iran, Reza Ameri, Iran’s Ambassador to the UAE, and senior officials from both countries.

Both sides welcomed the consultations as an important platform to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest. They reviewed UAE-Iran bilateral relations and discussed practical steps to strengthen cooperation and advance shared interests for the benefit of both nations and their people.

The two delegations also exchanged views on several foreign policy matters, including the latest regional developments impacting peace and security, along with ongoing efforts to address these challenges.

The consultations ended with an agreement to maintain regular coordination. Both sides also decided to activate joint technical committees to speed up the implementation of existing agreements and explore new areas of cooperation.

During her visit to Tehran, Lana Nusseibeh also met Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. She conveyed greetings from H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE. The meeting also included discussions on issues related to regional peace and security.
