To bolster their enduring partnership, the UAE and Kazakhstan convened for the tenth session of the UAE-Kazakhstan Joint Committee in Astana, co-chaired by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei and Zhaslan Madiyev. This meeting actuated a renewed focus on collaboration across vital strategic sectors as both nations assessed progress and outlined future objectives.
The discussions encompassed various domains, such as investment, finance, international collaboration, transportation services, health, space, artificial intelligence, and energy. Officials from both countries recognized a consistent increase in economic exchanges, with non-oil trade projected to reach USD 5.6 billion in 2024—highlighting the expanding horizons of joint ventures and elevating investor trust.
The UAE delegation recalled His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit to Astana in May 2025, which paved the way for new avenues in innovation, sustainability, and long-term economic growth. The Astana discussions aimed to convert this momentum into actionable measures that promote mutual development.
The session wrapped up with the signing of official minutes, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to translate agreed priorities into tangible outcomes. Additionally, Al Mazrouei hosted a roundtable discussion with Renat Bekturov, Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre, to evaluate ongoing projects and spotlight fresh collaboration opportunities that involve governmental institutions and private-sector partnerships.
Participants emphasized the importance of closely monitoring current initiatives and fostering stronger ties among small and medium enterprises. They noted that these actions would enhance economic integration and create diverse opportunities for partnership.
During the visit, Al Mazrouei also chaired the sixth round of political consultations with Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev. The two discussed bilateral relations and regional as well as international developments. Additional meetings occurred with Kazakhstan's transport and energy ministers to uncover new prospects in logistics, shipping routes, and major energy ventures.
Overall, the discussions in Astana highlighted the continuous strengthening of relations between the UAE and Kazakhstan, paving the way for expansive cooperation and new economic opportunities in the upcoming years.
