UAE Unveils Largest Date Factory to Combat Child Malnutrition

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has introduced a significant humanitarian project targeting global hunger and child malnutrition.

During an announcement on Friday, he detailed plans for the world’s largest date processing facility, focused on generating nutrient-dense food for children in less privileged communities. This project is being implemented in partnership with various organizations under his humanitarian umbrella.

As per Sheikh Mohammed, the factory is set to produce up to 150 million fortified food units based on dates each year. These products aim specifically to assist children impacted by malnutrition, enhancing their health and access to vital nutrition.

Emphasizing the importance of this initiative, Sheikh Mohammed remarked on the UAE’s abundance of palm trees, with dates serving as a traditional food source for numerous communities. He underscored that this local resource is being transformed into a valuable nutritional offering to address worldwide hunger issues.

This initiative exemplifies the UAE’s enduring commitment to humanitarian aid and sustainable strategies for global food security.
