The UAE has opened the Emirates Medical Centre in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, as part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3. The move aims to strengthen the health sector, support the local healthcare system, and provide urgent medical services to improve the quality of care for residents.
The centre includes several specialised departments and offers full medical services, including primary healthcare and emergency case management. Patients and the injured can receive timely treatment in a well-equipped facility.
Ali Al Shihi, Head of the Operation, said the opening reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to support Gaza’s health sector and ease the suffering of the population. Dr Mohamed Rubayyi’, Deputy Head of the Support Committee, noted that the initiative follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide full assistance to Gaza.
Dr Sameh Hamid, Director of the medical centre, explained that the facility is prepared to receive emergency cases and patients needing primary care, with specialised departments and a pharmacy to ensure proper treatment.
Hiba Al Najjar, WHO Health Coordinator in Gaza, praised the UAE for its continued support since the start of the humanitarian crisis. She highlighted that the UAE established the UAE Field Hospital early on and continues to support all hospitals in the Strip, strengthening the capacity of the healthcare system.
The opening of the Emirates Medical Centre is part of the UAE’s broader medical aid, which includes deploying medical convoys, providing ambulances, medicines, and other medical supplies. This initiative aims to improve healthcare services and assist patients, the injured, and the wounded in Gaza.
The centre builds on the work of the UAE Field Hospital, which continues to support Gaza’s hospitals, reduce pressure on medical facilities, and enhance healthcare quality. The UAE’s efforts demonstrate its commitment to humanitarian assistance and improving the standard of medical care in the Gaza Strip.
