UAE Successfully Intercepts Six Drones; Links to Barakah Attack Found in Iraq

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Over the past 48 hours, the air defense systems in the UAE have effectively intercepted six hostile drones that posed a threat to civilian regions and critical facilities within the nation.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed there were no reported casualties or damage during these operations. They lauded the armed forces for their swift actions and high levels of readiness in countering these threats.

Additionally, the ministry provided updates regarding the inquiry into the drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant that occurred on May 17.

The investigation revealed that three drones were engaged in the incident at Barakah. Of these, two were intercepted by the UAE's defense systems, while one managed to hit an electricity generator located outside the plant's inner security perimeter.

Technical surveillance by the authorities indicated that the drones involved in the Barakah incident, as well as those intercepted subsequently, were launched from Iraqi soil.

The UAE has declared its intent to take all necessary actions to safeguard its sovereignty, national security, and civilian infrastructure in line with international law.

The Ministry of Defence also emphasized that the UAE armed forces are consistently prepared to address any threats that may endanger the nation's security and stability.
