The Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans initiative, launched under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has successfully raised AED3.3 billion during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative was introduced by Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority – Awqaf Abu Dhabi with the aim of creating a sustainable funding system to support orphans across the UAE.
This large-scale humanitarian initiative focuses on improving the quality of life for orphans by providing long-term support in areas such as education, healthcare, and basic living needs, while also strengthening social unity in the country.
A major highlight of the campaign was the Mother of the Nation City project, valued at AED1 billion, developed in partnership with Eagle Hills. The project reflects the vision and humanitarian efforts of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, with all returns dedicated to supporting the endowment.
Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the strong participation from individuals and institutions, stating that the success of the initiative reflects the UAE’s deep-rooted values of generosity, solidarity, and shared responsibility. He emphasized that sustainable endowment plays a key role in long-term social development.
The initiative received significant contributions from leading organizations and business figures. Notable donations include:
AED150 million from Yusuffali M.A.
AED150 million matching contribution from Emirates Red Crescent
AED100 million contributions from Erth Zayed Philanthropies, Awqaf Abu Dhabi, Mubadala Investment Company, Aldar, Binghatti Holding, Sunny Varkey, Hasan Abdullah Ismaik, and HRE Development
Additional development agreements included:
AED200 million projects with MAIR Group
AED100 million projects with Lulu Group International
Contributions from Manafie for Development, AlSayyah Group, and The Sons of Hamad Suhail Al Khaili
The initiative also saw wide community participation, showing strong unity among government, private sector, and individuals. It aligns with the UAE’s Year of the Family goals, focusing on family stability and social responsibility.
Officials from Awqaf Abu Dhabi highlighted that this initiative is a pioneering model of sustainable philanthropy, turning donations into long-term investments that will continuously support orphans for future generations.
The campaign also reflects the humanitarian legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose vision established charity and social welfare as core national values.
Overall, the Mother of the Nation Endowment stands as a powerful example of how community support and strategic investment can create lasting impact, ensuring a better and more secure future for orphans across the UAE.
