UAE President Meets Fijian Leader to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met today with His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, President of the Republic of Fiji, to discuss enhancing bilateral relations and supporting the development goals of both nations. The meeting took place at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi during the Fijian President’s official working visit to the UAE.

During the high-level talks, the leaders affirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation across key sectors, including the economy, trade, renewable energy, tourism, and agriculture. They also exchanged perspectives on regional and global issues of mutual interest, highlighting the importance of collaboration to promote peace, stability, and prosperity worldwide.

The discussions placed special emphasis on renewable energy initiatives in the Pacific region. Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the UAE’s ongoing efforts through the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund, established in 2013 to support clean energy projects in Pacific island nations, with Fiji playing a leading role. The UAE President reaffirmed the country’s dedication to fostering sustainable development and shared growth with Pacific nations.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, along with several ministers and senior state officials. Both leaders expressed optimism about the future of UAE-Fiji relations, pledging to strengthen collaboration in trade, investment, and sustainable development projects that benefit citizens of both nations.

The UAE-Fiji partnership is expected to expand in renewable energy, tourism, and agriculture, reflecting both countries’ commitment to innovation, sustainable growth, and regional stability.
