UAE Sends 21 Water Tankers to Gaza to Ease Shortages

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The United Arab Emirates has provided 21 water tankers to the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility in Gaza as part of its humanitarian mission, “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3”. The initiative is aimed at supporting the Palestinian population and mitigating severe water shortages in the region.

Each tanker is capable of holding 10 cubic metres of water, transporting roughly 150,000 litres per trip. Collectively, these tankers will help provide water for approximately 200,000 people, ensuring access to clean and desalinated water across the affected areas.

Humanitarian Impact and Operations

Sharif Al-Nayrab, Media Director for the operation in Gaza, highlighted the UAE’s continued commitment to supporting the Palestinian people. He stated that the initiative reflects the UAE’s humanitarian approach and dedication to maintaining a steady water supply throughout Gaza, even amid ongoing crises.

The operation works around the clock to ensure that desalinated water reaches vulnerable communities, providing essential relief for civilians experiencing shortages due to infrastructure challenges and increased demand.

Local Appreciation and Acknowledgment

Omar Shatat, Deputy Executive Director of the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility, praised the UAE’s efforts, noting the timing of the tankers’ arrival was critical as water demand surged. He commended the operation for strengthening humanitarian efforts in Gaza and expressed gratitude to the UAE government and people for their continuous support.

The initiative has been widely appreciated by local authorities and residents, recognizing it as a vital contribution to alleviating daily hardships caused by water scarcity.

Expansion of Water Infrastructure

Last month, a new pipeline was launched to transport desalinated water from the UAE station in Al Arish to the Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. This pipeline has a daily capacity of two million gallons, benefiting hundreds of thousands of residents across the Strip.

This infrastructure complements the tanker deliveries, enhancing the efficiency of water distribution and helping to ensure that critical water needs are met during periods of high demand.

UAE’s Commitment to Humanitarian Aid

These efforts highlight the UAE’s leading humanitarian role and its steadfast commitment to assisting nations during times of hardship. By providing essential resources such as water, the UAE demonstrates its values of compassion, solidarity, and generosity on the global stage.

The delivery of water tankers and the expansion of desalinated water pipelines underscore the UAE’s determination to alleviate human suffering and support the resilience of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
