Abu Dhabi, February 22, 2026 — The United Arab Emirates has once again reaffirmed its full and unwavering solidarity with the State of Kuwait, expressing strong support for all measures taken to protect Kuwait’s legitimate rights and national interests.
In an official statement, the UAE emphasized that it stands firmly with Kuwait against any action that may infringe upon its sovereignty, particularly concerning its maritime areas and waters. The UAE also voiced serious concern and condemnation over the submission of a list of coordinates and a related map by the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations, which could potentially impact Kuwait’s maritime rights, including areas such as Fisht Al-Eid and Fisht Al-Eij.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of Iraq taking into account the historic and fraternal ties that exist between the two nations and their peoples. It urged that the issue be handled responsibly and with seriousness, in line with international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982, and existing bilateral agreements and understandings.
The ministry further called for all related matters to be resolved through constructive dialogue and diplomatic channels, highlighting that such an approach is vital for strengthening regional security and maintaining stability.
