UAE Launches Ambitious Agentic AI Initiative for Government Services

Chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Cabinet has officially approved a transformative framework aimed at deploying Agentic AI throughout government operations.

The meeting included prominent figures such as His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and various senior officials, where they discussed essential national strategies and reforms.

Agentic AI Across 50% of Government Sectors

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed that within two years, 50% of government sectors and services will utilize Agentic AI, as announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

He emphasized that the UAE will pioneer the global implementation of Agentic AI systems that can operate autonomously across key service areas.

AI as a Collaborative Partner

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid elaborated that these advanced AI systems will not just process data, but will also:

  • Monitor developments in real time

  • Provide actionable insights

  • Oversee operations

  • Perform tasks autonomously

  • Assess outcomes and enhance services

The aim is for AI to serve as a vital executive partner in enhancing the speed and quality of government services.

Training and Performance Management

This transformation will involve extensive training programs to equip government employees with crucial AI skills.

Performance metrics for ministers and government bodies will focus on:

  • Rate of AI adoption

  • Implementation of innovative systems

  • Adaptability to emerging technologies

Taskforce and Governance Framework

A special taskforce has been established to oversee the initiative:

  • Oversight: Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan

  • Chair: Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs

New Policies for Government

The Cabinet also ratified several significant policies, including:

  • UAE Code for Government Services & Zero Bureaucracy to standardize processes

  • Government digital records policy to enhance transparency

  • Data-sharing policy to promote inter-entity cooperation

  • Guidelines for cohesive digital projects

Economic Initiatives

Key resolutions included:

  • Reformation of the Higher Committee for Free Trade Negotiations

  • Reformation of the Emirates Development Bank Board

  • New frameworks to enhance logistics and trade systems

Climate Initiatives

The Cabinet assessed major sustainability projects under the National Biofuel Policy 2025, including:

  • Waste-to-fuel initiatives for sustainable aviation fuel

  • Enhancement of biodiesel production capabilities

  • A significant USD 300 million investment in a new facility in Fujairah

A global energy efficiency alliance was launched to further support climate action.

International Agreements

The UAE ratified:

  • 16 international treaties covering diverse sectors

  • Membership in the International Accreditation Organization

  • A national conservation plan for ivory and rhinoceros

The UAE will also host global events, including World Mathematics Day 2026 and forums on biodiversity and food security.

Next Phase in Digital Governance

This initiative represents the next chapter in the UAE's digital evolution, transitioning from e-government to cutting-edge smart services leveraging Agentic AI for enhanced efficiency and public service quality.
