Salem Saeed AlShamsi, the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, has formally submitted his credentials to Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), marking his position as the UAE's Permanent Representative.
Following the ceremony, discussions were held to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation between the UAE and ECOWAS in various critical domains. The dialogue emphasized expanding partnerships with West African nations aimed at fostering sustainable development, economic growth, regional stability, and long-term prosperity.
During the ceremony, Ambassador AlShamsi delivered greetings from His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, to Dr. Touray, expressing the UAE leadership’s aspirations for continued progress and prosperity within ECOWAS and its member states.
Ambassador AlShamsi reiterated the UAE's commitment to enhancing cooperation with ECOWAS and its member states. He underscored the strengthening relationship between the UAE and African nations, highlighting the necessity of collaboration in key sectors like investment, trade, and development for mutual benefits and sustainable growth.
AlShamsi observed that the UAE’s designation as a Permanent Representative to ECOWAS symbolizes the nation's commitment to expanding its involvement with African regional bodies, a step towards deepening ties with West African countries across various strategic sectors to facilitate development and prosperity in the region.
Dr. Omar Alieu Touray welcomed Ambassador AlShamsi warmly, acknowledging the UAE’s robust regional and international reputation. He highlighted the significance of strengthening ECOWAS-UAE collaboration and expressed the organization’s intent to expand partnerships that align with developmental objectives.
Dr. Touray commended the UAE’s accomplishments in economic development, infrastructure, energy, technology, and innovation, expressing enthusiasm for leveraging UAE expertise to enhance growth and prosperity across West Africa.
At the end of their meeting, both parties reaffirmed their dedication to boosting cooperative efforts and establishing strong partnerships that underpin shared interests, regional stability, and sustainable development throughout West Africa.
