Umno's Supreme Council to Review Rejoining Applications

Umno's Supreme Council to Review Rejoining Applications

Post by : Shakul

The United Malays National Organisation (Umno), Malaysia's ruling party, is preparing to address applications from former members who wish to re-enter the party through its “Rumah Bangsa” initiative.

This pivotal decision will take place at the party's supreme council meeting in Melaka, where the initial wave of applications will undergo scrutiny for potential acceptance.

Ahmad Maslan, a senior figure in the party, has expressed optimism regarding the approval of these applications, emphasizing the importance of reuniting past members to fortify party solidarity.

The Rumah Bangsa initiative is designed to reintegrate individuals who were either expelled or suspended while also appealing to new recruits, particularly the youth.

Officials have clarified that the application process is straightforward and unconditional, requiring merely basic identification information for logistical purposes.

This initiative coincides with the upcoming anniversary festivities of Umno, forming part of a wider strategy aimed at reinforcing support and revitalizing its political foundation.

Interestingly, notable former leaders like Hishammuddin Hussein and Khairy Jamaluddin have signaled their interest in rejoining the party.

This development highlights the evolving dynamics of the political sphere in Malaysia, as parties focus on enhancing internal unity and gearing up for future electoral contests.
