Thailand is launching a significant 2.45 billion baht initiative aimed at making travel more affordable and attracting a greater number of tourists. As reported by the Bangkok Post, this strategic move comes amid rising competition from other regional destinations.
The plan encompasses a range of measures, including hotel subsidies, reduced domestic flights, and assistance for international travel. These initiatives are forecasted to generate an estimated 56 billion baht in economic impact.
A key emphasis of the program is to enhance domestic tourism through the "Thai Teaw Thai Plus" initiative.
Eligible participants will benefit from a 50% government subsidy on accommodation charges, with an initial allocation of 500,000 benefits available.

Each individual can obtain up to five subsidies for their stay, with a ceiling of 3,000 baht per booking. Additionally, participants will be given 500-baht vouchers applicable at restaurants and local attractions.
The government anticipates that this domestic initiative could inject about 32 billion baht into the economy.
Another essential facet of the proposal is the reduction of travel costs via discounts on domestic airfares.
Approximately 400,000 flight seats will be available for discounts of 400 baht or 600 baht, depending on the specific route. This initiative aims to make intra-country travel more budget-friendly, thereby fostering domestic tourism.
To draw international visitors, the government plans to facilitate charter flights and collaborate with airlines for joint marketing strategies.
Officials project that this segment of the initiative could attract hundreds of thousands of foreign travelers and yield over 23 billion baht in tourism revenue.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phancharoenworakul stated that these measures are vital for fortifying Thailand's standing in a fiercely competitive global tourism marketplace.
Currently, the proposal awaits final approval, with considerations underway about funding from the 2026 or 2027 national budget.
