Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli has made history once again by becoming the fastest batsman globally to reach 28,000 runs in international cricket. This milestone was achieved on Sunday during the first One Day International against New Zealand, recorded within just 624 innings, surpassing legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara.
Kohli scored an impressive 93 runs off 91 balls, leading India to victory and earning him the Player of the Match award for the 45th time in his career. Despite achieving remarkable records, Kohli maintains a focused mindset, emphasizing team success over personal accolades. He expressed, “Honestly, I’m not thinking about milestones while playing. My goal is always to play the match situation correctly and provide my team the best chance to win.”
In a touching gesture, Kohli decided to send all his cricket trophies to his mother in Gurgaon, highlighting how much she cherishes them. This act reflects the sentimental side of the cricketing star, underscoring his gratitude and love for his family. Describing his cricket journey as a “dream come true,” Kohli feels privileged to spread joy among fans through his performances.
Kohli further discussed his batting approach, favoring calculated risks and an aggressive style rather than passively waiting at the crease. He mentioned, “Some balls have your name on them, and you have to back yourself. I try to put the opposition under pressure while staying within my strengths.”
He also acknowledged the fans’ enthusiasm when he comes to the crease, even if it means overshadowing another player exiting the field. Kohli admitted feeling sympathetic for the outgoing batter but understands it's just part of the sport's thrill.
India's captain Shubman Gill commended Kohli's reliability, stating, “It’s challenging to start on these pitches, but Kohli makes it look easy. We hope he continues to score runs and inspire the team.”
With this latest milestone, Virat Kohli solidifies his legacy as one of cricket’s all-time greats. His accomplishments are not only about numbers, but his humility, commitment, and family values position him as a genuine role model. Sending his trophies to his mother embodies his deep-rooted appreciation and personal principles.
Kohli’s journey serves as an inspiring reminder that true success transcends records and revolves around uplifting others, cherishing family, and staying grounded while pursuing aspirations.
