Vision for Media Growth Unveiled at Dubai Media Retreat

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Dubai Media Council organized the Dubai Media Retreat, assembling over 100 top executives from the global media and digital landscape to delve into the sector's future direction.

This gathering involved leaders from companies contributing approximately $13 billion to the local economy. Notable participants included Amazon, Twitch, Xsolla, Action Films, Boom Town, Epic Films, and Blink Studios.

Key discussion areas encompassed advertising, marketing, film production, gaming, and digital media. Attendees addressed obstacles, explored opportunities, discussed infrastructure requirements, talent nurturing, regulation, and innovation.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, emphasized that media is fundamental to Dubai's growth, aspiring to establish a highly competitive media ecosystem.

He linked this vision to the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which targets doubling the media sector's contribution to Dubai's GDP, fueled by talent, investment, and innovation.

Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri announced a new integrated digital platform set to launch by year's end, designed to streamline services and processes for media entities in Dubai.

She noted Dubai’s ongoing commitment to fostering an environment ripe for creativity and storytelling, from the origins of Dubai Media City to the evolving media landscape today.

Her Excellency Nehal Badri remarked that the retreat sparked crucial discussions across various sectors, highlighting that collaboration and transparency are vital for a more robust media industry.

Recommendations and insights from the retreat will culminate in a strategic report, shaping future initiatives and policies of the Dubai Media Council, further solidifying Dubai's status as a global media center.
