Teacher Identified as Suspect in Student's Fatal 3D Rifle Incident

Post by : Shakul

In Siak regency, Riau, a female teacher has been designated as a suspect following the tragic death of a student during a school science project involving a 3D-printed rifle. This incident has ignited serious concerns over safety protocols in the educational sector.

Authorities have identified the teacher for alleged negligence, as evidence suggests she did not ensure appropriate safety measures were in place during the demonstration of the experimental device. Investigating officer Sepuh Ade Irsyam Siregar noted that signs pointed to a failure in safeguarding the students during the activity.

The unfortunate event transpired on April 8 at a Science Show, during which various student projects were showcased. The incident took place in the school grounds, where multiple groups were set to present their experiments.

During the demonstration, the victim was showing a device known as the “Musketeer Gun,” a 3D-printed rifle created as part of the curriculum. Reports indicate the student had requested others to step back prior to the demonstration.

However, the device malfunctioned and exploded during the presentation, resulting in life-threatening injuries. The community is deeply shaken, leading authorities to probe further into the context of the demonstration.

Police have announced that the teacher may face legal repercussions for negligence leading to death. While she has been named a suspect, she remains free, cooperating fully with the investigation.

This incident underscores the necessity for stringent safety protocols and supervision during school activities, especially those involving potentially hazardous devices.
