US Investigates Alleged Missile Strike on Iran Wedding

Post by : Shweta

JD Vance Says US Is Investigating

US Vice-President JD Vance said Thursday that he was “extremely sceptical” of the Iranian reports but confirmed that the US military was investigating what happened. Vance also questioned the reliability of Iranian state media coverage of the conflict.

The investigation is important because the circumstances surrounding the reported strike remain disputed. The available information does not establish that the wedding was deliberately targeted or definitively prove which weapon caused the reported casualties.

Evidence From the Area

BBC Verify examined videos and images from the area near Kuhestak's coast. The material reportedly showed a destroyed telecommunications tower and severely damaged houses nearby. BBC Persian Forensics found that the telecommunications tower was about 112 metres from the house where the wedding was reportedly being held.

The evidence provides information about the physical damage in the area but does not by itself establish that an American missile struck the wedding venue. The US investigation is expected to examine the weapon, trajectory, target and circumstances surrounding the incident.

Iran Responds With Fresh Attacks

Iran has launched fresh attacks against US military positions in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, describing them as a response to the alleged strike. The developments add another dangerous dimension to an already prolonged conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

The fighting has continued for more than six months since the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28. The latest dispute over the reported wedding strike could further increase tensions and international concern about civilian casualties.
