The anticipated Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo cycling event is set for December 21, 2025, organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The 150-kilometre ride will kick off from Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain and conclude at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba, showcasing the scenic diversity of the emirate.
This year, the event offers AED 2 million in prize money across 364 awards—44 more than last year—highlighting its growing appeal and the commitment to recognize a broader range of competitors. It attracts both amateur and professional cyclists, enhancing Abu Dhabi's standing as a cycling center.
Preparations are in full swing, with the race village already established at the Sheikh Zayed Festival, where participants are picking up race packs and gear, along with the official race guide. This guide contains essential details about the route, safety protocols, checkpoints, and hydration stations to ensure competitors are ready for race day.
A new feature this year is the introduction of a dedicated Emirati category, fostering national involvement. A staggered start will begin at 7:00 a.m., tailored by age, skill level, and participation type, ensuring a well-ordered flow for both solo riders and teams.
Tissot will serve as the official timekeeper, reinforcing the event’s high standards. The brand, with its heritage since 1853, collaborates globally in cycling through its ties with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), reiterating the Gran Fondo's adherence to international precision and excellence.
His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasized the race's importance in fulfilling Abu Dhabi's cycling vision. The new route, increased prize money, and growing participation underline the event's goal of establishing the emirate as a premier cycling destination.
Race Director Adnan Shaheen added to this enthusiasm, noting the rising anticipation among participants and the expected international turnout for this fourth edition. The growing number of global teams participating demonstrates the event's expanding appeal.
As part of the broader Bike Abu Dhabi initiative, this Gran Fondo underscores the commitment to fostering community wellness, tourism, and elite competition through cycling events throughout the year.
Major sponsors for 2025 include Tissot, Burjeel Medical City, Bin Hamoodah Auto, Belmez Sports, Mubadala, Tadweer Group, Al Ain Water, Marathon, and Wolfi’s, with support from the Sheikh Zayed Festival, Department of Municipalities and Transport, Abu Dhabi Police, Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, and Al Qattara.
With an enhanced route, an elevated prize pool, and wider participation, this year's Gran Fondo is set to further establish Abu Dhabi's prominent position in the global cycling landscape.
