Abu Dhabi's Smart Transport Revolution: Strategic Partnerships Unveiled

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Abu Dhabi is embracing a transformative era in transportation. During the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week at DRIFTx 2025, Abu Dhabi Mobility entered several strategic partnerships with international and local entities to revolutionize the emirate's mobility landscape.

These alliances aim to foster a smart and integrated transportation network that encompasses autonomous vehicles, advanced air mobility, marine transit, and digital infrastructure. By utilizing leading-edge technology, Abu Dhabi seeks to establish itself as a frontrunner in sustainable and autonomous transportation.

Cybersecurity Framework

A notable collaboration with the Cyber Security Council focuses on the protection of Abu Dhabi's smart mobility ecosystem. This partnership involves threat intelligence sharing, coordinated responses to cyber challenges, educational programs, and public awareness initiatives, ensuring a secure digital framework for autonomous operations.

Integration of Autonomous Vehicles

Abu Dhabi Mobility has teamed up with Tensor Auto Inc. to bring autonomous vehicles onto the roads. This agreement ensures regulatory guidance and technical support for safe operations, fostering a healthy environment for self-driving technology. Additionally, a collaboration with Benteler Mobility will pilot mini robo buses to assess infrastructure and operational viability for larger autonomous transport systems.

Exploring Air Mobility

The city is also making strides in aviation. A partnership with Japanese eVTOL manufacturer SkyDrive aims to develop pilot operations, vertiport facilities, and smart charging infrastructure specifically for electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. These initiatives will integrate aerial mobility into Abu Dhabi's urban transit system.

Next-Gen Transit Systems

Through a partnership with Glydways, Abu Dhabi is testing autonomous mass transit systems to enhance first and last-mile connectivity while reducing reliance on traditional transportation. This initiative also seeks to develop standards and regulatory guidelines for these new technologies.

Innovations in Marine Mobility

The emirate is also pioneering advancements in smart maritime solutions. Collaborating with Blue Gulf Group and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, plans for autonomous marine vessels are underway, including feasibility studies and field trials that adhere to safety and environmental standards.

AI and Traffic Monitoring Innovations

In a partnership with e&, Abu Dhabi Mobility employs AI-driven drones for real-time traffic monitoring. These drones are instrumental in managing traffic flow, identifying congestion, and quick incident response, contributing to a safer driving environment.

Logistics and Freight Automation
Abu Dhabi Mobility, alongside Sinaha Technology, is pushing forward initiatives for autonomous freight solutions including self-driving trucks and heavy-lift drones, enhancing logistics efficiency while minimizing emissions.

With these strategic partnerships, Abu Dhabi is setting a benchmark for integrated, smart mobility solutions, focusing on safety, sustainability, and technological progress across land, air, and sea transportation.
