Umm Al Emarat Park Sets Guinness Record With Recycled Mosaic

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Umm Al Emarat Park and Tadweer Group have set a new Guinness World Record for the largest mosaic made entirely from recycled plastic bottle caps. The achievement was celebrated at a special ceremony on 18 December, attended by officials from the Park, Tadweer Group, and Guinness adjudicators.

Earlier in December, the community was invited to join the project, placing recycled bottle caps onto a custom wall designed to showcase universal recycling symbols. This initiative, part of the “Cap Your Way to Sustainability” campaign, encouraged schools, families, and community members across Abu Dhabi to collect caps and participate in building the 25-square-metre mosaic.

Over two participation periods from 8-10 December, 356 participants contributed to the project, working a total of 18 hours and using 24,846 bottle caps. The Park offered free entry to involve as many residents as possible, while Tadweer Group led the design, structure, and collection of caps for the mosaic.

Abdulwahed Juma, Executive Director at Tadweer Group, said the project helps the community understand the importance of sustainable waste management and supports the goal of diverting 80% of Abu Dhabi’s waste from landfills by 2030. Rasha Kablawi, spokesperson for the Park, added that the mosaic reflects the community’s commitment to environmental responsibility and shows how collective action can create lasting impact.

This record-setting project highlights the power of teamwork, creativity, and sustainability, inspiring residents to take active steps toward protecting the environment for future generations.
